Araks Johannes is an accomplished artist working from her studio in Glendale California.
She started drawing at a very young age, encouraged by her parents and uncle, a prominent artist at the time. While in high school she participated in several exhibitions and won First Place in statewide competitions.
Her artistic life was placed on hold while raising her family, however, she would draw and paint whenever she could find the time and kept her love of art alive for several years. In 2008 she decided to get back to painting more seriously, and learn old masters techniques. She took classes at Glendale Community College, and later with several current masters, where she studied and learned the classical techniques. Her work reveals the strength of under paintings, lights and glazes with focus on details.
She has participated in numerous juried art exhibitions and won several awards and Best of Show. She has sold several paintings and drawings in Southern California and has received many commissions for portraits and figurative work.
