MARISSA COMSTOCK
ARTIST
Marissa Comstock is a contemporary artist whose work celebrates the female form and the intricacies of womanhood. Rooted in a deep appreciation of the balance of curves and angles that define the female body, her paintings delve into the contradictions of women’s innate movements—graceful yet powerful, grounded yet unbound.
Central to Marissa’s art is an exploration of control and superstition, inspired by the historical and cultural forces that have shaped women’s lives. Through themes like astrology, the supernatural, and the taming of women’s inner wilderness, Marissa’s work reflects how women harness and transform their worlds from within.
Color is a vital force in Marissa’s creations. Guided by a lifelong fascination with the way light transforms hues, she strives to reveal the essence of the world as light illuminates it. Each brushstroke captures the subtle shifts of time, light, and perception, inviting viewers to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
After achieving success in other ventures, Marissa now dedicates herself fully to painting in her studio sanctuary. Her art invites viewers to explore the delicate interplay of control, contradiction, and beauty, offering a timeless reflection of the human—and specifically feminine—experience.
Lastly, Marissa is a wife and mother. Her daughter (and soon to be second) is often times present with her at her studio.
